The History

During the 1st – 4th century the Roman Iron Age took place in Sweden. It was named the Roman Iron Age by the Swedish archaeologist Oscar Montelius due to the hold that the Roman Empire had created over the Nordic and Germanic regions of Europe.
During this time the import of Roman goods in all sorts of metal grew to great proportions. It is believed that this was where the Swedish design tradition was born. e Swedes examined, copied, modified and manipulated the goods and began to create their own style. ese skills later became the foundation of the Viking art and crafts with metal objects.

The Story

About 2000 years later VIR Sthlm is taking the Swedish design tradition one step forward by making timeless beautiful design pieces more available to all men. VIR is the Latin word for man. Sthlm is an abbreviation of Stockholm, the Swedish capital city, home of some of the most exquisite Swedish design.
VIR Sthlm started with two men from Stockholm who wanted to make designed accessories more available. ey formed the idea into one simple sentence:

High quality accessories for men with a timeless design at a reasonable price.

By putting VIR and Sthlm together as a brand name we do not only pay our tribute to the Romans, who injected the first vitamins into Swedish design, we also proudly state our Swedish heritage. at is how the brand VIR Sthlm was borne.
